Description

A Dry Michigan Chardonnay from the Lake Michigan Shore

Fenn Valley’s Classic Chardonnay is a sophisticated expression of dry Chardonnay wine, crafted with traditional winemaking techniques that enhance the grape’s natural character while adding depth and complexity. Grown in the Lake Michigan Shore AVA, where the cool climate promotes slow ripening and bright acidity, this Chardonnay offers balance, structure, and elegance.

Flavor Profile & Winemaking

This dry white wine opens with the fresh fruit flavors of the Chardonnay grape, such as green apple and citrus, which are then layered with subtle vanilla and baking spice notes from fermentation in French medium-toast oak barrels. The result is a wine that is rich yet refined, with oak that enhances rather than overwhelms the fruit.

After fermentation, the wine undergoes sur lie aging, a process where it rests on the spent yeast (lees) to develop a creamy, round texture and bread dough-like aromas. This technique adds depth and complexity, giving the wine a fuller mouthfeel and a lingering finish.

Food Pairings

Classic Chardonnay is a natural companion to shellfish, roasted chicken, and dishes with cream-based sauces. Its crisp acidity and subtle oak make it versatile for pairing with both delicate and richer foods, making it a perfect addition to dinner parties and holiday meals alike.

A Lake Michigan Shore Standout

Produced in the Fennville region of Michigan, this Chardonnay reflects the cool-climate terroir of the Lake Michigan Shore, offering a crisp, clean profile that stands up to Old World standards while remaining unmistakably Michigan. Serve lightly chilled.
